Biography: Olivia is currently a second year Business Economics student with a planned minor in Accounting. She grew up in a small country town in the central coast of California and has loved being able to explore all that Los Angeles has to offer! In her first year at UCLA, Olivia began working as a Law Office Assistant for a nearby law firm that specializes in independent films. This role helped confirm her interest in pursuing law and significantly grew her knowledge of the entertainment industry.
On campus, Olivia has served as a Business Affairs Coordinator at Cherry Pop Records, UCLA’s student run record label, and she will soon be taking on the role of Business Affairs Manager. This role introduced her to the music side of the entertainment industry and provides an experience unique to UCLA. In her free time, Olivia loves watching UCLA and NBA basketball, going to concerts, reading books, and doing pretty much anything outdoors!
Future Plans: During the summer of 2025, Olivia plans to continue her current position as a Law Office Assistant while interning at a CPA firm that specializes in forensic accounting. Her goal is to grow her experience in the fields of law and accounting, two disciplines that frequently intersect. Forensic accounting especially interests Olivia because it combines two subjects, law and accounting, that she has found the most engaging. After graduation Olivia intends to work as an accountant to earn her CPA certification and then attend law school. After passing the Bar Exam, she plans to use her experience as a CPA and JD to work in a field where she can utilize her expert knowledge in both legal and financial matters.
What this scholarship means to me: I am so grateful to be a recipient of the Patricia and Harry L. Bruce Endowed Scholarship Fund. The UCLA Economics Department is full of so many talented and accomplished students, so to be selected as a recipient is a great honor. This scholarship will be an enormous help in paying for my academic expenses for the upcoming school year. My professional and academic goals entail many more years of education and the costs that come along with them, so receiving this scholarship will alleviate some of my and my family’s financial stress for the future. This award also serves as an amazing reminder of how supportive the UCLA community is, and why I am so proud to call myself a Bruin.
