Partnership UCLA / Alumni Career Programs builds connections with UCLA alumni, community members and employers to help students develop academic and professional skills in preparation for life after university. Experiential learning and real-world experiences are provided through a variety of programs for all UCLA students.

Bruin Development Academy

Helping students prepare for the world of work requires the support of our talented alumni network. Through intensive hands-on training sessions, participants learn valuable skills from today’s industry leaders. Academy topics have included Real World 101, Consulting, Law, and Entertainment.

Collaborative Instruction

During Collaborative Instruction courses, faculty and alumni work together to apply theory taught in the classroom to potential careers following graduation. Students have the opportunity to learn more about practical application of their degree from the first-hand experience of alumni. Collaborative Instruction courses are offered through various departments including Economics, Sociology, Communication Studies, Anthropology and the Life Sciences.

Economics Undergraduate Research Fellows Program

Modeled after the Sharpe Fellows program, the Economics Undergraduate Research Fellows Program is an opportunity for students to get hands-on experience in economic research. With the support of the Economics Board of Visitors, the program supports talented undergraduates to work side-by-side with a faculty member on the professor’s research team and received professional development training, and personalized coaching. Successful applicants will receive a stipend and will present their findings at a public event in June.

Job Ready Bucket List

UCLA wants you to feel ready and confident to meet the next adventure after graduation. The Job Ready Bucket List is a virtual training program dedicated to strengthening your professional toolkit, while guiding you to check off those to-do’s you’ve been meaning to get to.

Life After the Degree

Distinguished alumni are invited to campus to share their experiences after graduation, often regarding a specific industry or career paths in general. These sessions, followed by Q&A and/or a reception, are always interactive and informative. Topics have included careers in entertainment, dream jobs in physical sciences and more.
