The Simon Fellowship is an integral and required component of the Benjamin Graham Value Investing Program. This fellowship is designed to offer our senior students a unique “full circle” experience, allowing them to contribute significantly to the UCLA business community while honing their own skills in finance and investing. As Simon Fellows, students embark on a journey to build their community service profile with a focused mission: to illuminate the path for underclassmen towards careers in finance and investing.
A Three-Pillar Approach
- Bring Development Academy Initiatives: Simon Fellows take the lead in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Collaborating with local buy-side investing firms, fellows organize and conduct outreach events specifically designed for freshmen and sophomore participants of the Bring Development Academy (BDA). These events are enriched with specialized workshops covering crucial topics such as recruitment timelines and technical skills, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the finance and investing landscape.
- Mentorship Program: At the heart of the Simon Fellowship is the mentorship component. Our fellows serve as mentors to younger underclassmen, guiding them through their academic journey and supporting their recruitment endeavors. This one-on-one mentorship fosters a nurturing environment that encourages growth, learning, and success.
- CFA Level 1 Scholarship: Simon Fellows are eligible to take the CFA Level 1 Exam. To support their professional development, fellows who choose to pursue this designation will receive a scholarship that waives registration fees and provides a reduced exam fee.
