The UCLA Economics’ William Sharpe Fellows Program was founded in 2008 through the generous support of Kevin Albert ’74 and the UCLA Economics Board of Visitors. The program is named in honor of Nobel Prize-winning economist William F. Sharpe, who received his B.A and Ph.D. from UCLA. The mission of the UCLA Sharpe Fellows Program is to engage UCLA alumni in supporting the career and professional development needs of our high-achieving undergraduate students interested in careers in finance and consulting.
Once selected, each Sharpe Fellow receives targeted mentorship, leadership training, and industry introductions to help them launch a successful career. This includes specific workshops and events that prepare students for summer internship recruiting, while connecting them to both alumni and industry leaders. Currently, the Sharpe Fellows program provides support for Investment Banking, Finance, Consulting, and Technology. Sharpe Fellows have accepted internships at top companies including Goldman Sachs, PwC, J.P. Morgan, EY, Deloitte, KPMG, PIMCO, Credit Suisse, Google, Apple and Intel. Most impressive of all, 100% of Sharpe Fellows have received a summer internship placement since the program’s founding.
