Chiara Paz

I am a Bruin through and through – I attended UCLA for my undergraduate degree in Psychology and graduate degree in Education.  I’ve enjoyed working with college students since my days as a peer mentor in Los Angeles City College and have continued to work in various university advisory positions for the past 17 years. Prior to joining the Economics department in February 2017, I served as the advisor for the joint Master’s and teaching credential program in the UCLA Graduate School of Education & Information Studies.

Juliana Smith

My love of student affairs began during my years as a Gaucho at UC Santa Barbara, where I earned my BA in Psychology and Education while living and studying blocks from the Pacific Ocean.  During my undergraduate years, I also studied at Auckland University, where I went skydiving over a glacier, bungee-jumped off the Auckland Bridge, and briefly worked on a parsnip farm.  After graduating from UCSB in 2013, I taught English in a Spanish pueblo of less than 2,400 people.  Coming back to California I was immediately drawn to UCLA and life as an honorary Bruin.   Before coming to the Economics Graduate Office, I worked four floors down in the Department of Political Science.
